Fang

Fang, in San Francisco, is the latest restaurant from the Fang family, owners of the venerable House of Nanking in Chinatown for the past 22 years. As the chef of House of Nanking, Peter Fang has established himself at the forefront of Chinese cuisine. Now he and his daughter, Kathy Fang, bring a new concept to Chinese dining – Fang.

Our restaurant embodies both traditional and innovative approaches to Chinese cooking. Fang reinterprets old family recipes with new spices and ingredients from other world food traditions. The menu changes seasonally, using fresh ingredients from the same Chinatown markets Chef Fang has always frequented. Peter Fang will personally greet you when you come to dine at Fang, with the friendly warmth that has made the Fang family restaurants favorites for more than two decades.

More About Us!

Fang’s sleek, contemporary space is the first thing you notice upon entering. From the back lit bar to the smooth bamboo tables, the atmosphere is warm, yet sophisticated. Start with a signature cocktail, hot sake or Chinese wine as you peruse the menu. Or enjoy a pot of blossoming flower tea, special jasmine tea with a flower inside that blossoms as it cools.

The menu is eclectic and extensive, categorized by wok dishes, soups, noodles and appetizers. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, let Chef Fang design a “surprise” meal for you. You will be delighted by the chef’s selection of tasty and unusual dishes. The food is delicious and modern, with minimalist ingredients and fresh, unique flavor combinations. We offer many tasty vegetarian and vegan options as well as plenty for meat-eaters. Try the crispy honey steak, five spice white fish with spinach, stir fried pumpkin with corn relish or any of our other innovative recipes.
